Annual Chairman’s Debate Competition (27th January 2018)

Debate is a perfect opportunity to help students to develop their leadership and communication skills. It is what makes the youth learn about their potential. This is an ideal opportunity for the young debaters to get more informed about the current situation in the country which make them more prepared for their future endeavors.

With the same perspective in view, Mayor World School organised an Inter School Annual Chairman’s Debate competition on the most controversial topic of our country ‘Reservation A Boon or A Bane’.

Reservation is an idea that was ignited after independence. The ideology behind this was to give an added benefit to the deprived classes of the society and help them to join the main stream crowd of the nation, but ever since the politician brought this to the world of the politics, the whole meaning has changed drastically.  Thus it is the need of the hour and we need to think over it .

The event witnessed participation of students from various schools in and around Jalandhar giving their views on the most relevant topic.

A total of 18 students participated in the event of which nine spoke in favour of the motion and remaining nine spoke against the motion. The teams got an overwhelming response from the audience.

It was very evident that the teams were well prepared and they used various skills to convince the audience. All the four teams exhibited great oratorical skills.

The children were enthusiastic in giving their views and displayed a deep understanding of the topic.

The promotional speakers Mr Simmarjit Singh , Ms Tanvir Kaur and Ms. Guneet Bajwa ex Mayorite were the honoured judges of this event .

The second position was grabbed by Swami Sant Dass, Phagwara and the third position was held by Mayor World School but being the host School of this event, it was handed over to Delhi Public School, Jalandhar.
