Annual Chairman's Debate (3rd November 2018)


Mayor World School, Jalandhar adds another feather to its illustrious cap by hosting an Inter School Annual Chairman Debate on the most budding topics “Those in power pay only lip service to women empowerment” and “Growing Population is a Nation’s Strength.”

The promotional speakers, Mr. Simerjeet Singh, Ms.Tarveen and Ms. Supriya Bhaskar,
an ex-Mayortie were the honoured judges of the event.

The competition witnessed participation of students from various schools in and around Jalandhar giving their valuable insight on the topics.

A total number of 15 schools participated. There were two speakers from each school, out of which one spoke in favour of the motion and the other spoke against the motion. The students amazed the audience with their witty answers in the rebuttal round. The teams got an overwhelming response from the audience. The teams were well prepared and made ample use of effective commutative skills by using language as a weapon to convince both, the judges and the audience. The students were enthusiastic in giving their views and displayed a deep sense of understanding of the topics.

The first position was bagged by Hiya Sharma and Love Malhotra, Delhi Public School, Jalandhar. The second position was clinched by Sumedha Bhandari and Mitansh Jain, Mayor World School. Being the host school, the prize was handed over to Amrita Senghera and Sarandeep S. Gill, Army Public School, Jalandhar. The third position was grabbed by Afraz Singh Gill and Manjot Singh Bhopal, Guru Amardass Public School, Jalandhar. Hiya Sharma, Delhi Public School, Jalandhar was declared the best speaker.

The Vice Chairperson, Ms. Neerza Mayor and the Principal, Ms. Suman Rana  honoured the winning teams. Vice Chairperson, Ms. Neerza Mayor appreciated and applauded the enthusiastic participation of the students and laid stress on the tremendous effort that had been put in by the students of various schools and added that it was both a battle of words and mind. The Principal, Ms. Suman Rana congratulated the winners and commended their efforts.

Indeed it was an engaging, rewarding, mind expanding and enriching competition. The participation of all schools was remarkably outstanding and brilliant.
