Day and Night Camp (23rd to 26th March 2019)

“Camping is not a date; it’s an endurance test.”

It’s every child’s boisterous dream to climb trees or bridges, swing, play outdoors, enjoy  bon fire parties and have a night out in tents with friends. Mayor World School made this dream come true for its students, making them experience such adventures within the School campus in its annual Day and Night Camp.

An enthralling Day Camp for the students of Mayor Galaxy, Grades I and II and an exhilarating Overnight camp for Grades III-VIII was organised from March 23rd to 26th respectively. The whole point of giving this platform to children is to get them away from the dreary drudgery of the daily routine and give them an experience that they would cherish through the years to come. A special Evening Camp was  also organised on March 23rd for the ravishing mums of the Mayorites.

Brightly coloured tents fuelled the children’s imagination and added to their fun and frolic. Children got engrossed in various activities as Wall climbing, Zip line, Burma Bridge, Commando Bridge, Double Trouble, Rope Climbing, Spider Web, Wriggling, Roller, Acid Circle, All are keys, Pipe Dreams etc. All these activities were designed to emphasise coordination, leadership, team work and self-dependence. The professional group ‘Team Adventure’ was especially engaged to conduct all these activities. For the Night Camp children reported at 4.00 p.m. in the evening and dispersed at 10:00 a.m. the next day morning, whereas the Day Campers stayed on campus for the whole day.

The Children enjoyed the bonfire moments and the foot tapping music till late in the evening.  Later they relished a scrumptious meal and then continued with their peer talks, dance and music for hours. In the morning they had their  breakfast and went on with some new activities.

Mothers too participated in all the spine chilling activities. ‘Walk on Fire’ was another heroic activity in which the participants walked bare foot on the burning coal. The melodious voices added charm to ‘Antakshari’ whereas mimickry sessions and dumb charades was a great fun.

Campers who participated in these activities expressed their views and remarked them as “Awesome” and “Electrifying”.  The parents, who came to pick their wards commented that  programme was “well organised” and the activities were “age appropriate”. They were enthralled to see the environment and arrangement.

The Director, Ms. Sarita Madhok acknowledged that such activities give children a confidence and make them self dependent as they learn to manage their chores themselves without any elderly assistance.

The Vice Chairperson  MS. Neerza Mayor’s presence added sparkle to the moment. She emphasised that such activities are a part of holistic growth child. She further said that school has tried to make this camp as safe and fun filled as possible .

The parents expressed their gratitude towards the School management for organising such activities for children and making them self- sufficient.
