 Annual Day and Prize Distribution at Mayor World School

Mayor World School celebrated its Annual Prize Distribution function titled “ Honours Evening” in the school premises with the fullest enthusiasm. On the eve of the Annual Prize Distribution all the winners and toppers who had notched the positions in Academics, Sports and extracurricular activities throughout the year, were awarded prizes. The whole programme , “Celebrating Tagore” was based on the Nobel Laureate and Indian mystic, Rabindra Nath Tagore. The theme of the programme was an exemplary effort to commemorate the legendary figure of the nation who had directed literature, art and philosophy of the country. In this programme the concerned Bangla literature of Rabindra Nath Tagore was firstly translated into Hindi by the teachers and then the musical composition was set in accordance with Hindi by Music Department of the School.

 Mayor World School, Mr. Rajesh Mayor, CEO Mrs. Neerza Mayor, Director, Ms. Jyoti Nagranee and Principal, Mr. J. S Hundal. All the dignitaries were given a floral welcome.

The function started with the lightning of the lamp ceremony by the Chief Guest followed by Rabindro Sangeet. In Rabindro Sangeet the Mayorites mesmerized the audience by the splendid music composition of song and orchestra as visualized by Tagore. In the Annual Report, all the achievements of the students and the school were described. The toppers and the winners of various events were awarded trophies.

The most enthralling item of the programme was the enactment of the play, Chitrangada - The Warrior Princess. It is considered the magnum opus of Rabindra Nath Tagore. The original balled in Bengali, was translated and converted into a lyrical dance drama that proclaimed the message of ‘Women Empowerment’ The audience was spellbound by the striking episodes and the impeccable characterization of the lyrical dance drama.

In addition to this, the Nobel Prize winning poetical collection of Rabindra Nath Tagore- Gitanjali was elegantly presented through elocution and action by the Mayorites. The meetings between Tagore and Einstein and Tagore and Gandhi ji were also the key items of the programme. Thereafter the group dance item Ekla Cholo Re made the audience tap their feet in unison. It was collaborated with Prime Minister Narendra  Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.

 

The Chief Guest eulogized Rabindra Nath Tagore in his speech and said that Rabindra Nath Tagore was a towering personality. He was a great poet, philosopher, artist, playwright, composer and novelist. He was India's first Nobel laureate, who won the 1913 Nobel Prize for Literature. We all need to learn a lot from the praiseworthy life of Tagore.

Extending the views Mr. J. S Hundal Principal Mayor World School said that we should take the steps to stimulate artistic philosophical and literary tastes among the students and we should conduct the programmes based on such great personalities for building up high morale and inspiration. He also remarked that the students should expedite their efforts to outshine in academics, sports and extracurricular activities as this school life is a formative period where we can outline our future.

The event concluded with serving of a delicious dinner to guests, parents and students.
