Honours' Evening (24th November 2018)




 

Mayor World School celebrated its Annual Prize Distribution function titled "Honours' Evening" in the school premises with full enthusiasm on 24th November, 2018 for the students of grades VI-XII. On the eve of the Annual Prize Distribution all the winners and toppers who had notched the positions in Academics, Sports and Extracurricular activities throughout the year, were awarded the prizes.

 

The Chief Guest of the Day was Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, (IPS) Commissioner of Police Jalandhar.  Amongst the distinguished gathering of the city and parents of the school students, present on this occasion were the Chairman  Mr. Rajesh Mayor, the Vice Chairperson Mrs. Neerza Mayor  and the Principal  Ms. Suman Rana. The event was elevated to another level by the auspicious presence of members of Mayo College General Council, Ajmer, R K Rajendra Deo Singh, Thakur Sidharth Singh and Sh. Navin Kumar Dixit .

 

The function started with the Tilak Ceremony followed by Lamp Lighting and invoking God’s blessings. The guests were cordially welcomed by the Head Girl in her Welcome Speech. The programme was initiated by the School Anthem which was sung by the School choir with devotion and dedication leaving the audience mesmerised.

 

The Annual Report gave a detailed description of all the events and accomplishments like academics, sports, co-curricular activities, new ventures, workshops, exhibitions, camps, fairs and celebrations of the session 2017-18. The high achievers excelling in various fields, be it sports, like golf, chess, cricket etc. or academics like Olympiads, Inter School Debates and other competitions were also felicitated by the Chief Guest.

 

The most enthralling item of the programme was the dance drama ‘Meera Bai’ which was based on the real life events of Meera Bai who was the princess of Mewar. It depicted the struggle she had undergone to be with the divine Lord.    The theme of the programme was an exemplary effort to reminisce the legendary figure of the nation who had shown the people of this country the path of love and devotion. The play beautifully illustrates the tribulations and agonies that she was subjected to, in her search for the divine.  The audience was spellbound by the striking episodes and the impeccable characterization of the lyrical dance drama.

 

The prize distribution ceremony was held to felicitate the students who followed the School’s motto ‘Inspiring Excellence’. The grand ceremony brought to light the accomplishments of Mayorites in academics making the parents and the School proud of their achievements. The toppers and the winners of various events were awarded the trophies.

 

The Chief Guest eulogized the essence and enactment of the programme and the hard work put in by the staff and the students. He inspired the students to further their goals with greater diligence. He appreciated the education system being pursued by the school and further encouraged the other schools to follow pursuit. The Chief Guest was presented a token of appreciation by the management. The vote of thanks was extended in the end thanking, appreciating and expressing gratitude to everyone who had been a part of the function.

 

Ms. Suman Rana, Principal Mayor World School said that we should take steps to stimulate the students with such epical narratives and should organise programmes based on such  personalities for building up their faith in the divine presence. She also remarked that the students should keep working hard in their efforts to outshine in academics, sports and extracurricular activities as this school life is a formative period where they can outline their future.

 

Finally the event concluded with the National Anthem and serving of sumptuous dinner to guests, parents and students.
