Inter House English Debate Grades VI- VIII (3rd August 2017)

‘You can sway a thousand men by appealing to their prejudices quicker than you can convince one man by logic.’

And debating is one such activity. When there is information, there is enlightenment. When there is debate, there are solutions. And those who cannot understand how to put their thoughts on ice should not enter the heat of debate because freedom is hammered out on the anvil of discussion, dissent and debate.

In keeping with the traditions of continuous and comprehensive growth of children, Inter-House competitions are always organized at the forefront of Co-Scholastic activities at Mayor World School, Jalandhar.

An inter-house English debate was held today in the school premises for grades VI – VIII. Two participants from each of the four houses; Dickens, Keats, Shakespeare and Wordsworth participated enthusiastically and exhibited their oratory skills. They put forth their views for and against the topic ‘Three years of MODI government.’

The competition was organized with the aim of promoting proficiency in articulation of thought and public speaking. The participants, armed with statistics and data made their arguments more emphatic with their righteous facial expressions, body movement and gestures.

Rishit and Ananya Shoor representing Shakespeare’s house were declared the winners, and the best speakers of the competition were Rishit and Prabhjot.
