Inter House Hindi Poetry Recitation ( 25th April 2017 )

Poetry has long been rightly recognized as the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings and emotions. Giving an edge to the young Mayorites, to develop their skills in this art form in Hindi, Mayor World School organized Inter House Hindi Poetry Recitation competition for Grades III-V. After rigorous selection procedure, one student from each of the four Houses; Dickens, Keats, Shakespeare and Wordsworth was trained to represent the House. Poems of the famous laureate poets of the country were selected to give theme to the competition. ‘Koshish karne walon ki’. by Harivanshrai Bacchan , ‘Jhansi ki Rani’ by Subhadra Kumari Chauhan,  ‘Veh Desh Kaun Sa’ – Ramnaresh Tripathi and ‘Swatantrta Sakratamata’ by Dwarka Prasad Maheshwari were gracefully recited by children. They were tested on the basis of rhythm, intonation, confidence and delivery of the poem.

Students gave tough time to the judges for the decision. They kept the audience mesmerized with the inspirational poetry. It made the venue resonate with immortal verses and rhythms.

Syna Aggarwal of Wordsworth House was declared the winner of the competition, Kavin Laroia from Keats House was adjudged as runners up followed by Arbudha Khanna and Aarav Dada of Shakespeare and Dickens House respectively.

Principal Mr. J.S. Hundal congratulated the winners and applauded the spirit of the children in successfully giving justice to the poems of all-time favourites penned down in honour of the great martyrs and freedom fighters. Giving due impotance to Hindi language, he encouraged the children to follow the footsteps of our great leaders and give respect to our rich heritage.
