Inter House Super Spellathon( 9 Feb 2016 )

 It is said that “We live and breathe words.” The Mayor World School organised an Inter House Super Spellathon Competition on 9th Feb 2016 in the school premises. The students from grades III to VI exhibited their understanding of English language. Four children were selected from each house to represent their house namely Dickens, Keats, Shakespeare and Wordsworth.

The event highlights a unique school programme to enhance the skills in English language and build confidence amongst children. There were ten rounds in all based on spellings, pronunciation, books with their authors, famous poems, Grammar, phrases and idioms. To further boost their curiosity two interesting rounds i.e. Visual round and Rapid fire round engrossed the students fully in the event. All the children including the audience fervently participated in the quiz. There was neck and neck competition as all the participants were well prepared, which shows their great interest and command over on the language. Winners were awarded the merit certificates.

Gundeep Singh, Aahana Aggarwal, Sakhi Gupta and Shauryaveer representing Keats house were declared the winners followed by Wordsworth house as runners up. Shakespeare House and Dickens house were declared third and fourth respectively.

The Vice Chairperson, Mrs Neerza Mayor’s gracious presence was a source of great inspiration for the participants. Director, Mrs Jyoti Nagrani appreciated the zeal of participants.
The Principal, Mr J S Hundal who always tries to bring out different facets of the child’s character, endurance and personality, congratulated the winners and encouraged the participants for their competitive spirit. He applauded the efforts put up by the teachers to inculcate the habit of reading among children and upgrade them.
The session was indeed a wonderful learning experience for the participants.
