Inter House Super Spellathon Competition Grades VI-VII (30 Jan'17 )




Exuberating, motivating, enlightening and engaging would describe the Inter-House Super Spellathon 2017- an English based Quiz Competition conducted by Mayor World School, Jalandhar for grades VI-VIII. The competition was aimed at developing the knowledge and excellence base among the students through a healthy and highly motivating competition. The English Department took the initiative of organizing this literary contest the quiz was held on the following topics: 1) books and authors 2) Poems and poets 3) grammar 4) proverbs 5) idioms and phrases 6) spelling and pronunciation 7) visual round& 8) rapid fire round. The Quiz Masters, prepared a number of interesting questions that tested every aspect of their knowledge of English Language and Literature including spelling and pronunciation. The Visual round was indeed exciting and greatly appreciated by the audience. The rapid fire round left everyone amazed as the participants answered questions in quick succession. The Quiz turned out to be a successful event. This kind of literary activity evokes learning spirit amongst the students and many students got informed and exposed to different arena of competition even when they were not directly involved in the quiz contest.  

Each team put up a whole hearted effort but Wordsworth House aced the first prize, Shakespeare House showed Great Spirit and positioned themselves at the second position. The third position was bagged by Keats House followed by Dickens House in the fourth place. It was truly an enriching experience for the students!!

The Vice Chairperson Ms. Neerza Mayor and the Principal Mr. J.S.Hundal congratulated the students for their stupendous achievement and motivated them to keep up the same. Interacting with the students, the Vice Chairperson said that such competitions not only instill in the students a love for reading but also improve their vocabulary and speaking skills. The Principal acknowledged that such competitions not only raise the level of confidence of the students but also encourage them to improve their linguistic skills.
