SUPER SPELLATHON (14th Feb 2018)




There were ten rounds including the Spell-Bee, Autobiography, Idioms and Proverbs, Rapid Fire, etc. While the Spell-Bee tested the participants for the spellings, Diction was based on pronunciations. Cues were given to them in the ‘Autobiography round’. Moreover, there was a Word Search round, which was very interesting. In Scribble round, the participants framed words out of the given letters. There were questions for the audience also for which they responded vigorously. Most of the questions were based on the Spellathon sheets given to them throughout the year. There was neck and neck competition as all the participants were well prepared, which shows their great interest and command over on the language.

 

Under the category of III-V there was a tie between Keats and Dickens. Kavin, Abhavya, Nandita and Shauryaveer Singh representing Keats house and Aanya, Jia, Cheryl and Vinamr Kalra of Dickens were declared the winners.

 

Under the category of VI-VIII Chaarvi, Kushagra, Mistie and Riten Luthra representing Wordsworth house were declared the winners followed by Shakespeare house as runners up. Dickens House and Keats house were declared third and fourth respectively.

 

Under the category of IX-X Pratham Jain, Bikram Sodhi, Vansh Jain and Ribhav Chopra representing Shakespeare house were declared the winners followed by Wordsworth house as runners up. Dickens House and Keats house were declared third and fourth respectively.

 

The Vice Chairperson, Ms. Neerza Mayor’s gracious presence was a source of great inspiration for the participants. She congratulated the winnersand encouraged the participants for their competitive spirit. She applauded the efforts put up by the teachers to inculcate the habit of reading among children and upgrade them.
The session was indeed a wonderful learning experience for the participants.
