Inter School Tennis Tournament (8th Nov '14)




 

‘Inspiring Excellence Week’ continued with much fervor with open school lawn tennis tournament being held at Mayor World School. The tournament started from  November 5, 2014 and lasted for three days till  November 7, 2014. In all 175 matches were played from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. for forty hours.

Twenty five schools participated in the tournament from Jallandhar and around the city. There were 16 categories having 170 players. Our honourable Chairman Mr. Rajesh Mayor, the CEO Ms. Neerza Mayor, the Director Ms. Jyoti Nagranee and  the Principal Mr. J.S. Hundal  presided over the daily events in the school. They also appreciated and motivated the participants and told them to play for the spirit of playing.

There were different categories – Under ten age group was played by girls as well as boys in one category. The other categories were under 12 age group, under 14 age group and under 16 age group for boys and girls seperatetly.

The winners were awarded medals and certificates. In under 10 age group the winner was Yugraj Singh , APJ School. The second runner up was Anhar Pal Singh Multani, MGN School, Urban Estate. In under 12 boys age group the first runner up was Ribhav Sharma, Cambridge International School(CO-ED). The second runner up was Abhiraj Singh , Mayor World School. Under-12 girls age group the first runner up was Aneet Kaur ,MGN Public School, Adarsh Nagar. The 2nd runner up was Avneet Virk ,Cambridge International Girls. Under-14 boys age group the first runner up was Ribhav Sharma, Cambridge School(CO-ED). The 2nd runner up was Divansh Kakkar ,APJ School. Under-14 girls age group the first runner up was Aneet Kaur ,MGN Public School, Adarsh Nagar. The 2nd runner up was Jhanvi Saini ,St. Joseph Convent School. Under-16 boys age group the first runner up was Divansh Kakkar, APJ School, Jalandhar. The 2nd runner up was Jagnoor Singh ,MGN School,Jalandhar. . Under-16 girls age group the first runner up was Kiran Rajput, CT Public School. The 2nd runner up was Twinkle Sharma, Cambridge International Girls School

Mr. Pawan Kumar Tinu, MLA, Adampur and Chief Parliamentary secretary sports was the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour was Mr. Yuvraj Bhupinder Singh Chairman, Zila Parishad, Kapurthala. They applauded the enthusiasm of participants and aspired that these players play at national and international levels. They also appreciated the students and their efforts and wished them good luck for their future.
