The house system forms the basis of all competitions in the School, It promotes team spirit, group loyality and healthy competition. The School is divided into four houses. These are in alphabetical order.
DICKENS HOUSE (House Colour Orange)
Charles Dickens was the greatest of all English novelists. He was born in 1812 and died in 1870. He suffered many hardships in life but over came them all. As a boy, he saw his father thrown into prison for owing people money. As a man, he quickly learned to turn his prodigious talents in to cash by publishing exciting stories in weekly newspapers and magazines. His best novels include ‘Oliver Twist’, ‘David Copperfield’, ‘Great Expectations’.
Dickens inspires his house children to not give up in face of hardships.
Dickens house has been regarded as the most discipline house exhibiting punctuality and following regalations.
KEATS HOUSE (House Colour Green)
Few poets rise to the level of John Keats, and even fewer reach that level at such an early age John Keats was only 26 years old when he died.
John Keats was born in 1795 in Moorfield, England, the son of a stableman who married the owner’s daughter and eventually inherited the stable for himself. The elder Mr. Keats died when John was eight, leaving the family tied up in legal matters that would last the rest of John’s life.
In July 1820, John left England for Italy, he died of tuberculosis on February 23, 1821, at the age of twenty-six leaving an indelible mark on English Literature.
Keats left the golden message for all youngsters that you don’t need a gray beard to leave your mark on this world.
Keats house dazzeled everyone with its academic brilliance. They have performed in all the competitions with excellence bagging all the top positions throughout the session.
SHAKESPEARE HOUSE (House Colour Red)
William Shakespeare was ‘not of an age but of all times’. His plays and poems are read and studied all over the world. His birthplace at Stratford upon Avon in England is now a shrine to the world’s greatest ever playwright. He was born on 22 April 1564 and died on his birthday 52 years later. His works include ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’, bloodcurdling dramas such as ‘Macbeth’ and the most tragic love story of all, ‘Romeo and Juliet’, The most famous writer of English language is still as popular five centuries down the line as he was when he was alive.
Shakespear’s eternal inspiration lies in the timeless appeal of his prolific work which seems to say “A thing of beauty is a joy for ever.”
Shakespeare house is the champion of champions. The house proved its mettle in sports, clinching the trophy for being the best house in sports. It left no stone unturned to carry the overall trophy for the session, outperforming all the houses with great ardor.
WORDSWORTH HOUSE (House Colour Yellow)
William Wordsworth was born on April 7, 1770, in Cockermouth Cumbria, England, Wordsworth’s mother died when he was right-this experience shapes much of his later work. Wordsworth attended Hawkshead Grammar School, where his love of poetry was firmly estblished and, it is believed, he made his first attempt at verse. While he was at Hawkshead, Wordsworth’s father died leaving him and his four siblings orphans.
Wordsworth’s most famous work, “The Pertude” (1850), is considered by many to be the crowing achievement of English romanticism.
Wordsworth’s love for nature and beautiful poetry sends down the message to the students of his house to be one with nature.
Wordsworth has shown its unrivalled creativity and talent bagging trophy for the best house in cultural activities.
