Saluting the nation and its freedom fighters on the auspicious eve of Independence Day, a cultural event was organised at Mayor World School on 14 August, 2019 with zeal and patriotic spirit. The esteemed judges for the event were Ms. Nidhi Mittal, a gold medalist in classical dance form and the Director of Studio Antara-an institution of numerous genres and styles of dancing, and Ms. Richa Malhotra, the Record Maintenance Officer at Mayor World School.
The celebration commenced with an address by the Director who released the tri-colour balloons to mark the occasion. A patriotic song sung by the tiny tots of Mayor Galaxy left the audience spellbound. An enthusiastic dance performance by Samaira Mankotia of Grade I left everyone in awe. After these performances, students of all the four Houses staged mesmerising dance performances revolving around the theme-Patriotism. The students expressed their sentiments and aspirations for the country through their dance acts.
In this neck and neck competition, the jury had a tough time to reach the conclusion. The first position was shared by Shakespeare House and Wordsworth House, whereas Keats House bagged the second position and Dickens House stood third.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Nidhi appreciated the efforts put in by the Mayorites. She congratulated team Mayor World for putting up such a splendid show.
The Vice Chairperson Ms. Neerza Mayor, the Director Ms. Sarita Madhok, the Deputy Vice Principal Ms. Charu Trehan highly applauded the efforts of students and teachers. The winners were awarded with certificates. The day filled everyone’s hearts with patriotic fervour.
