“Knowledge is a treasure but practice is the key to it.”

Quiz contests are a great way of analysing how well one understands a subject and correlates the theoretical knowledge with its practical application in real life. It encourages students to grow beyond their textual knowledge and explore their true potential. To promote and encourage a fun way of learning among the students, Mayor World School organised an Inter House Mathematics Quiz for the students of Grade VI-VIII. There were four participants from each of the four houses namely Dickens, Keats, Shakespeare and Wordsworth. The format of the quiz entailed five rounds: Question-Answer round, Logical-Reasoning round, Mental Ability round, Visual round and Rapid Fire round.

Teams not only had to attend to the ‘out-of-the- box’ nature of Olympiad style questions but also had to think logically all under the constant pressure of time. Students confidently responded to the questions put across them and applied their skills to solve the mathematical problems within the time limit. Teams showcased their enthusiasm while identifying the famous mathematicians from the clues provided to them. The questions posed for the audience after each round kept their interest alive. In the closely contested competition, Dickens House comprising Ajit Singh, Shubhraj Singh, Japneh Singh and Jaibhav Chopra emerged as the winner followed by Wordsworth House.

The competition on the whole was an educational and learning experience for the students.

The Vice Chairperson Ms Neerza Mayor, the Director Ms Sarita Madhok and the Deputy Vice Principal Ms Charu Trehan congratulated the winners and inspired the students to participate in such competitions which will help them learn and stretch their knowledge horizons.
