Mayor World School, Jalandhar added another feather to its illustrious cap by hosting the Inter School Annual Chairman Debate on the topic “Artificial Intelligence has redefined the threat Perception of Human Civilisation.”
Ms. Randeep Mand, a celebrated writer and story teller and Ms. Ibrat Chhina, our Alumna, a lawyer by profession and a full time Interior Designer who works with a London based firm, were the judges of the event.
The programme began with the Lamp lighting ceremony. The Vice Chairperson Ms Neerza Mayor, the Deputy Vice Principal Ms. Charu Trehan and the judges ignited the lamp of wisdom and knowledge. A fusion dance on the School Song was also performed by the students.
The competition witnessed the participation of students from various schools in and around Jalandhar, giving their valuable insights on the topic.
There were two speakers from each school, out of which one spoke in the favour of the motion and the other spoke against the motion. The students amazed the audience with their witty rejoinders in the rebuttal round. The teams got an overwhelming response from the gathering. The teams were well prepared and used the power of words and logic as a weapon to convince both the judges and the audience. The students were enthusiastic in giving their views and displayed a deep sense of understanding of the topic.
The jury members commended the participants and the School Management for selecting such an innovative topic.
The first position was bagged by Suhani Arora and Kareena Toor, CT Public School Jalandhar. The second position was clinched by Veda Jain and Mishti Malhotra, Mayor World School. Being the host school, the second prize was handed over to Mittali Ray and Muskan Yadav, Seth Hukam Chand S.D. Public Senior Secondary School,Sangal .The third position was grabbed by Dayanand Model Senior Secondary School, Jalandhar. Prabhjot Kaur Johal, Cambridge International School, Phagwara was declared the best speaker.
The Vice Chairperson congratulated the winners and applauded the enthusiastic participation of the students from the various schools. She also commended the convener, Ms. Tanupriya and the Department of English for their earnest endeavours.
It was indeed an engaging and enriching competition.
