The Inter-House Super Spellathon for Grades VI to VIII was organised at Mayor World School on 13th February 2025. It was a quiz based on the English language, literature, and grammar. There were four participants from each house and a tough competition was witnessed amongst all the four teams.
The event featured nine rounds: Spell Bee, Sense Relations, Visual Quest, Linguistic Limelight, Verbal Acrobatics, Idioms and Proverbs, Know Your House Patrons, Word Wizard, and Rapid Fire.
The Spell Bee challenged the participants on their spelling accuracy, and the diction round emphasised their pronunciation. In the Visual round, the participants were asked to identify the titles of the poems and famous authors from the pictures shown to them. Idioms and Proverbs were tested in the form of a very interesting activity called Dumb Charades. Rapid Fire, the last round, was yet another very intriguing and exciting round.
It was a neck-and-neck competition that showcased the preparedness, enthusiasm, and zeal of the participants. All the teams performed remarkably well.
Dickens House , comprising Manya Sachdeva (VIII C), Kabir Sood (VIII C), Pranavi Grover (VII C) and Mehtaab Dhaliwal (VI B) bagged the first position. The second position was held by Wordsworth House whereas third and fourth positions were bagged by Keats House and Shakespeare House respectively.
The School Management extended heartfelt congratulations to the winners and commended the Department of English for successfully hosting this remarkable linguistic event.
The Vice Principal, Ms. Charu Trehan, addressed the students and remarked that such competitions help to foster a love for the English language and boost their confidence levels.
