Mayor World School, renowned for nurturing holistic development, hosted a vibrant “Dress Up Like a Word” competition for the students of Grades III to V on 2nd May 2025. The event provided young learners with an imaginative platform to explore the richness of vocabulary and the power of self-expression.
Each of the four houses explored thought-provoking themes, bringing depth and creativity to the event. Dickens House embraced “The Unknown,” delving into mysteries and hidden narratives. Shakespeare House reflected on “The Unspoken Self,” capturing the complexities of personal identity. Keats House celebrated “Timeless Trends,” highlighting enduring ideas and influences. Meanwhile, Wordsworth House embodied “The Wanderers,” evoking a spirit of exploration and discovery. Together, these themes enriched the occasion with insight and originality.
A team of three students from each house took to the stage, creatively dressed to personify a word that aligned with their respective theme. Their thoughtful interpretation, articulate delivery, and imaginative costumes brought their chosen words vividly to life, earning admiration from both peers and judges alike.
The event was adjudicated by Ms Tanupriya, Head of the Department of English, and Ms Harshita, the School Counsellor. Both the judges were deeply impressed by the originality and stage presence displayed by the participants.
Dickens House comprising Ahana Oshan (III-D), Krishvi Chauhan (IV-D) and Aarnav Aggarwal (V-C) bagged the first prize. Aradhya Jagota ( V-A) from Shakespeare House was recognised for her exceptional diction, demonstrating remarkable clarity and eloquence in speech. Rajsi Khanna(III-B), also from Shakespeare House, impressed everyone with the best presentation, showcasing both confidence and a strong stage presence. Meanwhile, Ahana Oshan(III-D) from Dickens House stood out with the best costume, captivating the audience with a striking and well-thought-out ensemble.
The occasion was graced by the Vice Chairperson, Ms. Neerza Mayor and the Vice Principal, Ms Charu Trehan.
The Vice Chairperson commended the pupils for their outstanding performances and inspired the young audience to overcome challenges with courage and conviction.
The competition proved to be a splendid display of creativity, linguistic flair, and confidence-a true celebration of the magic of words.
