Mayor World School proudly organised an Inter-House English Debate Competition for students of Grades IX to XII on 6th August 2025, centred around the thought-provoking topic:

“Should Domestic Violence Laws Be Gender Neutral?”

Each house was represented by a team of four articulate debaters. Shakespeare House and Wordsworth House spoke for the motion, while Dickens House and Keats House argued against it. The participants captivated the audience with their sharp repartees, compelling arguments, and confident delivery.

The event was graced by the presence of the Vice Principal, Ms. Charu Trehan, who shared her valuable insights, enriching the discourse with her perspective.

The teams were adjudicated by Ms. Tanupriya, Head of the Department of English, and Ms. Shubhangi Khosla, Deputy Head of the Department. Judgement criteria included Content, Coherence, Delivery, and Body Language. The Rebuttal Round proved to be the decisive factor in determining the winning team.

To deepen  the students’ understanding of the theme, an engrossing video on Gender Equality was screened, followed by an engaging interactive session that encouraged reflection and dialogue.

With their persuasive arguments and cohesive teamwork, Wordsworth House comprising  Aridaman Singh (X-C) ,Krisha Jain (XI-B),  Amay Mahajan (IX-B)  and Prithika Bhutani (XI-B) emerged triumphant. The second place was secured by Shakespeare House.
