Mayor World School celebrated Guruparab with profound reverence and joyful participation, marking the 557th Birth Anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, on 4th November 2025. The occasion was observed through a series of spiritually enriching and culturally meaningful activities that engaged students across all grades.
The students of Mayor Galaxy and Grades IV and V, dressed in white attire with kesari scarves respectfully covering their heads, visited the Gurudwara to offer their prayers. In the serene atmosphere of the prayer hall, they listened attentively to divine recitations and received valuable teachings on compassion, equality, and service to humanity. The children also participated in the sacred tradition of langar, where they were served a simple community meal-symbolising humility, unity, and the spirit of togetherness. The visit aimed to instil moral values, promote cultural understanding, and encourage students to appreciate the importance of peace, respect, and community service in society.
Within the school premises, students of Grades I to III also celebrated Guruparab with heartfelt enthusiasm. A group of children narrated the Saakhi of Sacha Sauda, illustrating Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s early act of kindness and divine wisdom. One student explained the identities and roles of the figures in the Saakhi, while another recited a soulful poem dedicated to Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The programme began with the recitation of the Mool Mantra by a young Mayorite, setting a spiritual tone for the gathering. Adding to the reverence of the occasion, a group of students dressed up as the Panj Pyare. One of the children eloquently shared their significance in Sikh history, deepening the students’ understanding of Sikh values and traditions. The Vice Principal, Ms Charu Trehan, addressed the students and shared the essence of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings- truth, humility, and universal brotherhood.
A special assembly was hosted by the students of Grade VII-C to commemorate the occasion. The assembly featured a quiz on the life and teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, encouraging students to reflect on his timeless messages. Ms Gurpreet Kaur,the Head of the Department of Punjabi, led a solemn Ardaas, invoking divine blessings and enveloping the gathering in spiritual serenity. Karah Prasad was reverently distributed among all the students, followed by a special langar organised for both students and staff, reinforcing the values of equality and shared humanity.
The School Management reiterated its commitment to nurturing value-based education and emphasised the relevance of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings in today’s world. The celebration was not merely an event but a soulful journey into the legacy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, inspiring students to walk the path of righteousness and compassion.
