Mayor World School , Jalandhar, celebrated its Annual Honours Evening with grandeur and cultural splendour on 20th December 2025. The event, themed “An Anecdote – A Tale of Twenty Years Unfolds”, marked a significant milestone in the institution’s journey of twenty years from its visionary inception in 2005 to its dynamic heights in 2025.
The evening was graced by the esteemed presence of Sardar Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Honourable Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha, as the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour included Shri Deepak Bali, General Secretary, Aam Aadmi Party and Advisor – Culture and Tourism, Government of Punjab, and Dr. Akshita Gupta, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Phagwara.
The programme commenced with the Lighting of the Lamp Ceremony performed by the Chairman Mr. Rajesh Mayor and the Vice Chairperson Ms. Neerza Mayor, along with senior dignitaries and distinguished guests. This was followed by the Vice Chairperson’s Address, the presentation of the Annual Report -2024-25 and a melodious interlude by the School Orchestra. The Prize Distribution Ceremony, conducted in three segments, honoured students for their outstanding achievements in academics, sports, and cultural pursuits.
A highlight of the evening was “Milestones in Motion”, a compelling twenty-year chronicle of Mayor World School portrayed through the evocative medium of sand art by renowned artist Mr. Nitish Bharti , which drew thunderous applause from the audience. Another significant moment was the launch of “Unveiling Wisdom”, an anthology of short stories and poems curated by the Vice Chairperson Ms. Neerza Mayor, symbolising the School’s literary vision.
The Chief Guest, in his address, lauded the institution’s commitment to holistic education and its role in shaping future leaders. The cultural programme continued with “Threads of Time”, a dance drama enacted by alumni of the School , including the dance performances and poem recitation by students of Grades VI to XII, which nostalgically traced the vibrant journey of school life and transported the spectators to cherished memories.
The dance narrative was thoughtfully scripted by Ms Shubhangi Khosla, Deputy Head of the Department of English, and exquisitely choreographed by the Department of Dance and Music under the able leadership of Ms Preeti Kakkar. The presentation unfolded with the inspiring School Anthem, “Nothing Is Impossible,” and culminated in a poignant portrayal of farewell, evoking deep nostalgia and heartfelt reflection.
The electrifying presentation of the Ghoomar dance captivated the audience with its rhythmic elegance and cultural splendour. This was followed by the spirited performance of ‘Tu Jo Mila’, a beautiful expression symbolising the enduring bond between teachers and students. The dance saw the graceful participation of the Vice Chairperson, Ms Neerza Mayor and the Vice Principal, Ms Charu Trehan, alongside other ardent educators of the institution, leaving the audience thoroughly enthralled.
To honour the enduring bond shared by the alumni with the School, their reflections and experiences were thoughtfully shared through special video messages, seamlessly woven into the programme.
The announcement of the House Trophy results was met with great enthusiasm, as Dickens House proudly secured the coveted Overall Winners’ Trophy, further distinguishing itself with excellence in both Sports and Co-curricular activities; Shakespeare House was lauded for its remarkable achievements in Academics, while the honour for Discipline was jointly bestowed upon Keats House and Wordsworth House, reflecting their shared commitment to values and decorum.
The evening concluded with a Vote of Thanks and the National Anthem, leaving the audience with a sense of pride and a shared vision for the decades to come.
