Mayor World School continues to nurture love for the nation and instill these values in young minds, ensuring the next generation carries forward the torch of India’s legacy.

Mayor Galaxy, the pre-primary wing of Mayor  World School ,hosted an emotionally stirring evening Assembly-  “Echoes of Freedom”- on 22nd August 2025, commemorating India’s journey of courage, sacrifice, and triumph in the struggle for independence. The event was not just a programme but a soulful journey through the alleys of history, celebrating Patience, Persistence and Perseverance, the pillars that shaped our Independent India.

The occasion was graced by the esteemed guiding lights and visionary pillars of our institution- the Vice Chairperson Ms. Neerza Mayor, the Trustee Mr. Chitaj Mayor, and the  Vice Principal Ms. Charu Trehan. Their presence, a true embodiment of pioneering spirit and unwavering commitment, served as a radiant source of inspiration, encouraging our students to embrace the values of service, patriotism, and responsible citizenship.

The evening began with a warm welcome by inviting the audience to witness the heartfelt tribute brought alive by the young storytellers of Mayor Galaxy. Ms. Preena Sablok ,the Headmistress  of Mayor Galaxy,   addressed the august  gathering with her  inspiring words, setting a reflective and uplifting tone for the event. An enthralling  dance performance dedicated to the motherland followed, marking the formal commencement of the assembly.

The narrators guided the audience through India’s struggle for freedom, highlighting the immense sacrifices, resilience, and unwavering determination of the people who fought for their birthright –  independence. The assembly traced historical events, from the presence of  early British trade  to the influence of Divide and Rule policies, emphasising the indomitable spirit of Indian youth and freedom fighters.

The Swadeshi and Khadi movement was beautifully enacted by students, demonstrating the importance of supporting local industries and embracing India-made goods. Their vibrant chorus, “Videshi Chhodo, Swadeshi Apnao, Desh Ko Aage Badhao” resonated across the gathering, symbolising patriotism and self-reliance.

The Salt Satyagraha and Dandi March were depicted with emotional scenes showing families affected by the salt laws, culminating in their meeting with Mahatma Gandhi, emphasising courage, hope, and unity in the face of injustice. The plight of the printing press highlighted the struggle for freedom of expression, where editors risked deportation for speaking truth under British rule.

The assembly also featured cultural expressions  representing the unity and collective spirit of the nation during the Quit India Movement. Music, drama, and dialogues combined to create a vivid portrayal of India’s journey towards independence.

The event concluded with heartfelt reflections on India’s enduring spirit, leaving the audience inspired and deeply moved. The echoes of freedom were heard in every performance, every dialogue, and every song-  a reminder that the courage and sacrifices of our predecessors continue to resonate today.

The School Management extended heartfelt congratulations to the educators and the participants for the grand success of the event. They also expressed  sincere gratitude to the parents for their unwavering support and encouragement, which inspired the children to participate wholeheartedly in such enriching functions.
