To celebrate the glory of India, an Inter House Dance Drama competition was organised at Mayor World School with great zeal and patriotic spirit on 19th August 2025.

The presence of the Chairman Mr. Rajesh Mayor and the Vice Chairperson Ms. Neerza Mayor added grace and distinction to the event. Ms. Chahat Mayor,and the trustee of the School,Mr.Chitaj Mayor further elevated the occasion by presiding over the function as special guests. The parents of the contestants also attended the programme.

Depicting the incredible journey of our nation – from the chains of colonialism to the wings of freedom in the event, “Tab Se Ab Tak,” the participants of all the four Houses from Grade VI-XII, staged mesmerising dance performances.

The theme elaborated a spellbinding journey through time -a journey that narrated the story of India’s soul, woven through centuries of culture, resistance, transformation, and triumph. The talented students took the audience through a historical voyage with each performance dedicated to a different era. They expressed their sentiments and aspirations for the country through their dance acts.

The participants dressed in colourful costumes, enlivened the hearts of the audience with their rhythmic steps, unparalleled coordination and captivating expressions.

Wordsworth House staged an amazing dance show, ‘The grandeur of the Mughal era’ whereas Keats House portrayed the courage, art, culture, and transformation of the 18th Century. Dickens House presented India’s freedom movement in the 19th century giving tribute to the unsung heroes of the 1800s in an inspiring manner.
Shakespeare House vividly portrayed the modern era as a century marked by profound struggles and inspiring triumphs- from Gandhi’s philosophy of non-violence to India’s hard-won Independence in 1947, and onward to the emergence of a resilient, self-reliant nation.

The Vice Principal, Ms. Charu Trehan encouraged all the performers. The parents were enthralled by the splendid dance and drama.

The competition was judged by a passionate Kathak artist, Ms. Nidhi Mittal, the founder of Studio Antara, Jalandhar’s leading Kathak and Creative Arts studio, and Ms. Bhavya Jain, a trained Kathak dancer, soulful performer and devoted educator whose journey spans over 18 years, woven with ghungroos, grace, and unshaken passion. The judges generously commended all the teams for their vigorous and exquisite performances.

The participants gave their heart and soul in the performances and danced to the rhythm and beat of music enthralling the audience with their vitality, life force and energy.

In this neck and neck competition, the first position was bagged by Dickens House whereas Keats House bagged the second position and Shakespeare House stood third. Ibadat Mand of Dickens House, Sanchit Chanana and Venya Bhandari of Keats House, and Mahim Goel of Shakespeare House were declared the Best Dancers for their resplendent performances.

Krisha Jain of Wordsworth House was recognised as the Best Compere for her eloquence and engaging stage presence.

The School Management congratulated all the students and teachers for their endeavours. The unflinching efforts of the Department of Dance and Music presented the melodious extravaganza.

The evocative function ended with the Vote of Thanks followed by the National Anthem.
