Saluting the nation and celebrating the spirit of freedom, an Inter House Group Folk Dance competition was organised at Mayor World School on 10 August, 2022 with a great  zeal and patriotic spirit.

Participants from Grade VI-VIII, of all the four Houses staged mesmerising dance performances revolving around the theme ‘Folk dances of India’

They expressed their sentiments and aspirations for the country through their dance acts. The children from all the four Houses dressed in colourful costumes, enlivened the hearts of the audience with their rhythmic steps, unparalleled coordination and expressions. The potpourri of performances included dance forms of various states of India.

 ‘Bihu Dance-Assam’ was presented by Dickens House, ‘Kashmiri Dance-Jammu and Kashmir’ by Keats House, ‘Dhunuchi Dance-West Bengal’ by Shakespeare House and ‘Garhwali Dance-Uttrakhand ’ by Wordsworth House.

The participants put their heart and soul in the performances making us all feel and reflect. They danced to the rhythm and beat of music captivating the audience with their vitality, life force and energy.

This neck and neck competition was adjudged by Ms. Sweety Sidhana,Head ,Department of Visual Art, Police DAV and  Ms. Dr. Sugandhi Bhandari, an assistant professor at PCMSD.

The first position was shared by Dickens House and Wordsworth House whereas the second position was shared by Shakespeare House and Keats House.

 The competition was culminated with an enthralling dance performance, as a gesture of respect for their country, by the teachers of Department of Dance, Ms.Preet Kakkar and Ms.Indu Sharma. It was followed by a vote of thanks proposed by Ms.Preeti Kakkar, Head, Department of Dance and Music.

The School Management congratulated all the students and teachers for their endeavours.  The joyous winners were awarded  certificates by the Vice Chairperson ,Ms.Neerza Mayor. The unflinching efforts of the Department of Dance and Music presented the melodious extravaganza. The day filled everyone’s hearts with patriotic fervour.
