On Monday, 21st October 2024, Mayor World School successfully hosted the prestigious Inter School Annual Chairman’s Debate. This event brought together bright minds from different schools to engage in a robust discussion on the topic: “Veganism: The Future of Ethical Eating or an Unrealistic Lifestyle?”
The competition provided a vibrant platform for students from various schools to articulate their perspectives on this pressing global issue. Some participants passionately advocated for ethical eating, while others debated the practicality and sustainability of a vegan lifestyle.
The Vice Chairperson, Ms. Neerza Mayor, the Principal, Ms. Divya Keni, and the Deputy Vice Principal, Ms. Charu Trehan, graced the event. The competition was judged by a distinguished panel of experts: Mr. Simarjeet Singh, an internationally acclaimed speaker with 17 years of experience who has worked with over 400 corporations globally and is a recognised TEDx speaker; Ms. Tarveen Kaur, with over a decade of soft skills training experience; and Ms. Jaspreet Virk, an alumna of Mayor World School, an entrepreneur, and a compelling orator.
The Vice Chairperson, Ms. Neerza Mayor, declared the results. Tanaya Gupta and Avika Sharda of St. Joseph Convent, Jalandhar, won the Rolling Trophy, bagging the first position. The second prize was awarded to MGN Public School, Jalandhar, and the third position was claimed by Bawa Lalvani Public School, Jalandhar. Avika Sharda from St. Joseph Convent School, Jalandhar, was declared the best speaker.
The School Management congratulated the winners and applauded the enthusiastic participation of students from varied schools. The competition was a remarkable success, fostering an atmosphere of lively debate, critical thinking, and eloquence. The young participants not only showcased their debating prowess but also deepened their understanding of ethical and sustainable lifestyles, engaging in a crucial dialogue for today’s generation.
The programme concluded with the patriotic tunes of the National Anthem.
