Mayor World School proudly hosted the prestigious Model United Nations (MUN) in collaboration with ANT-EYE, a platform to cultivate leadership, diplomacy and critical thinking among young minds.
This intellectually stimulating event brought together around 600 bright young minds, stimulating the workings of the United Nations. Held on 3rd and 4th May 2025, the event witnessed participation from several schools across the region, encouraging discourse, negotiation, and analytical reasoning among the learners.
The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chairman Mr.Rajesh Mayor, the Vice Chairperson Ms.Neerza Mayor and the senior dignitaries, symbolising the quest for knowledge and wisdom.
Mr.Gautam Jain, IAS, Municipal Commissioner of Jalandhar, presided over the function as the Chief Guest and encouraged students to become global citizens and future leaders.
The MUN was more than just a simulation of global affairs; it was a celebration of youth leadership and cultural harmony. The students actively participated in discussions across diverse committees, tackling pressing international issues with insight and maturity.
The committees simulated included All India Political Party Meet(AIPPM),United Nations Council of Security of Women(UNCSW),United Nations Human Rights Council(UNHRC),International press (IP),United Nations Environment Programme(UNEP),United Nations Drug Control Programme(UNDCP),United Nations Security Council(UNSC), Marvel vs. DC, Board of Control for Cricket in India ( BCCI),United Nations General Assembly( UNGA) and Shark Tank. The delegates represented various countries and tackled real-world issues ranging from global health crises to international security and human rights.
On both the days, the conferences were marked by a vibrant blend of intellectual engagement and cultural experiences. The level of research, debate, and diplomacy demonstrated by students was commendable and reflected their deep understanding of global affairs.
The first evening concluded with an electrifying DJ Night, providing students a well-deserved break and a chance to connect informally.
The closing ceremony honoured outstanding delegates with awards recognising Best Delegates, High Commendations, Special Mentions and Verbal Mentions in each committee.
The Head of the Organising Committeee, Meir Singh Pandher, proposed the Vote of Thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the School Management for providing a platform that fosters discussion, discretion, and deliberation.He also expressed his gratitude to the Chief Advisor, Advocate Gajinder Nath Sharma, the Secretary General, Mr. Dhruv Arora, Ms. Monika Arora ,the entire team of ANT EYE, and MUN Incharge, Ms. Babita for their consistent guidance and support.
The Vice Chairperson, Ms. Neerza Mayor expressed immense pride in the students’ efforts and stated, “The MUN has become a hallmark of excellence and inclusivity, and we are thrilled to witness such vibrant participation and passion.”
The Vice Principal, Ms. Charu Trehan, praised the participants and the organising teams for their efforts in making the event a resounding success. She added the event not only served as a platform to nurture diplomatic skills but also reinforced the values of leadership, cooperation, and international understanding. The School Management thanked all the delegates, faculty, volunteers, and guests who made this event a grand success. The two day event culminated in a soulful Sufi Night, embracing the spirit of unity and peace that the MUN itself promotes followed by the National Anthem.
